Connecting Nature and Art through Encaustic Expression
Nancy Penner is an accomplished artist whose work reflects a deep connection with nature and the landscapes of her surroundings. Growing up in a rural environment, she was inspired by the textures, colors, and forms of the natural world, which continue to shape her artistic practice.
Her journey has taken her from an early fascination with drawing to a mature exploration of mediums like encaustic and oil painting, where she excels in capturing both the subtle and bold aspects of the environment. Nancy’s works have been exhibited in numerous galleries, and her distinctive style offers viewers a sense of place and tranquility.
“There is something about being in the Turtle Mountains that stirs my soul.“
Artist Statement
My art is a reflection of the beauty I find in nature, with each piece serving as an exploration of texture, color, and light. Working primarily with encaustic and oils, I aim to capture not only the physical elements of a landscape but also the emotional resonance that these places evoke. Each stroke, layer, and detail in my work is a dialogue between myself and the environment, pushing me to express the calm, energy, or movement I observe. Through my paintings, I invite viewers to experience the stillness and depth of the natural world as I see it—both familiar and endlessly inspiring.
